New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate will submit the secret statement given by the accused Swapna Suresh in the gold smuggling case against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family members in the Supreme Court. The statement will not be made public. The ED statement will be sent in a sealed cover. This kind of move by the ED came after taking legal advice from the senior advocates of the central government.

Swapna made serious allegations against the Chief Minister, his family members and some high-ranking officials, including Sivashankar, in his statement before the Judicial Magistrate’s Court on June 6 and 7. The magistrate court has directed that the statement should not be made public considering the serious nature of the allegations. Therefore, the ED has informed the Supreme Court that the statement can be submitted to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover.

The transfer petition filed by the ED in the Supreme Court has also detailed the efforts of the state government, police and jail officials to sabotage the ED’s investigation into the money laundering case related to diplomatic parcel gold smuggling. The ED petition also claims that Sivashankar influenced Sandeep Nair, the accused in the money laundering case. ED Kochi Zone Assistant Director approached the Supreme Court. The ED demands that the case in the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court be transferred to the Bengaluru Principal Sessions Court.
