The independent social and political website “Belarusian Partisan” and all accounts of the publication in social networks are included in the “republican list of extremist materials.” This is evidenced by the information published on Monday, November 29, on the website of the Ministry of Information of Belarus.

We are talking, in particular, about the publication’s materials in the Telegram channel, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Odnoklassniki.

The court in Gomel made a decision on November 12

The inclusion in the list took place after the court of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Gomel made a corresponding decision on November 12. It “is subject to immediate execution in accordance with Article 314 of the Civil Procedure Code,” the ministry said.

“Freedom of opinion cannot be considered extremism”

The publication has already commented on the verdict. “We are confident that freedom of opinion cannot be considered extremism,” and “harmony in society is not achieved through prohibitions and censorship,” the journalists wrote. “We will think about what to do next,” added the editorial staff.

About 300 Internet resources are recognized as extremist in Belarus. Thus, in early November, the KGB of Belarus considered the BelaPAN agency an “extremist formation”. Prior to that, on August 8, the agency employees were searched. The editor-in-chief Irina Levshina was detained, she remains in custody.
