French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, 20, has extended his contract with Real Madrid for two more years until 2029, the Spanish club announced in a statement on Tuesday.

This announcement is not a surprise and had been announced for several days. Real Madrid did not give figures, but as with the recent extensions of Brazilians Rodrygo and Vinicius, this new contract would be accompanied by a release clause of one billion euros, according to the Spanish press.

A great mark of confidence from the Merengue club in the French international, who joined Real Madrid on the last day of the summer 2021 transfer market from Rennes for 30 million euros at the age of 18 only.

Ancelotti wants to install him in the middle

In two seasons with the Merengue, Eduardo Camavinga has become a luxury joker for his coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has praised his versatility on several occasions, playing more than 100 matches in all competitions with the White House.

The Italian technician did not hesitate to use him as a left-back when necessary, even if Camavinga affirms that his preferred position remains that of central midfielder. After using him sparingly and often as a left back due to the repeated absences of specialists in the position last season, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said this summer that he intended to install Eduardo Camavinga in the middle. He will therefore be in competition with Tchouaméni, Valverde and Kroos.

Vice-world champion in Qatar in 2022 with the Blues, Camavinga has notably won a Champions League, a Club World Cup, a European Super Cup, a La Liga, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup since his arrival at Real.
