Eduardo Navarrete teaches everything in ‘El Hormiguero’

Cheeky, funny and without mincing words, that’s how Eduardo Navarrete introduced himself in ‘El Hormiguero’. The designer presents a new collection at Mercedes Fashion Week. «I am from the town next to Torrevieja and I have been inspired there. I know a lot of people who took the ‘One, two, three…’ apartment and I have done the Torrevieja Weekend so that people can see the wonderful things it has. It is my tribute to my land and my roots », he explained, revealing that he is writing a book with which he has had to look back. «He has touched me to go back to the origin. When I started and was doing my degree, I worked at night as a transvestite and I looked really cute. And that’s why I started using my face in my designs. It was not something premeditated, but we have achieved something differentiating », he commented.

Pablo Motos inquired into that physical presence of the couturier in his work. “Everything has a reason. It is an artistic expression in which I take my face as a canvas. Instead of being inspired by poppies I use my face. I put cigarette butts in my face and we made a very cool pattern, or I get into a bathtub with milk or I pour honey over it, which almost drowned me… And I am also self-centered, yes”, argued a couturier who would like to be a star. «First, because I love vedettes and second, because the word vedette, in France, means an artist who knows how to do everything. And I am a bit that », he warned.

Tables are not lacking for the creator who became known in ‘Masters of sewing’ and has surrounded himself with celebrities in his fashion shows. Navarrete feels comfortable in front of the cameras and boasts of his aesthetic interventions. “How many operations have you had?” Motos asked. The interviewee was not intimidated. «I had my eyes done, the bichectomy and, while I was there, in the operating room I told the doctor that I had a little ball of fat on my neck. And she opened me up, removed the ball of fat and gave me a facelift. And then the whole body. I’ve even bought abs!” He assured, taking off his shirt and showing his torso shamelessly. “They have put my belly on my ass, more and more people do it,” pointed out the designer who, after seven hours in the operating room, spent a month sleeping face down, “and dripping with blood, but this is the best thing I’ve ever seen.” done and I’m happy,” he said. “I’m happy. I do it because I like it and in a natural way », he finished.

As a child, Navarrete helped his parents in a wedding hall they had, and he did not lack food. “I have eaten everything. I grew up in a wedding hall that my parents had and I ate the sugar in the cafes. Another day, while playing, there was a lacón dish in a corner. Turns out he had a little bit of rat poison. And I ate it. The last thing I remember is my mother holding my head and me throwing up,” he recalled. «I have always been very sissy. Nothing went well for my parents and I, over time, have understood them, “he reflected. His open character led him to practice multiple trades. «I was also an erotic binguera. I wanted to be Norma Duval at the Folies Bergère, and since I knew that it wasn’t going to be possible, I became a transvestite. Then I met a lady from Murcia and I would go through the towns with a bingo, making rhymes with the numbers. And instead of giving money we distributed vibrators of all sizes », she evoked.
