The educational community of Annex A Lomba has achieved the objective of maintaining the 3-year line for the next course. This was communicated yesterday by Ana Granja to the president of the Anpa, Lourdes Miguéns, after the negotiations initiated by the Popular Party of Vilagarcía with representatives of the Ministry of Education came to fruition.

Last Thursday was when a representation of the Vilagarcian school met with the representatives of the Popular Party, specifically with Ana Granja, Elena Suárez and Juan Andrés Bayón, to expose a situation that has led to the resolution of an initial decision that was based on not reaching the minimum ratio that would guarantee the maintenance of the 4th year of Early Childhood Education.

The registration period for new registrations in the center closed with only 11 children under 3 years of age. A twelfth enrollment entered after the deadline and Education referred it directly to the A Lomba school. Subsequently, on June 30, the Provincial Headquarters informed the management of the center of the decision to close the line of 4th of Early Childhood Education, which gave rise to the start of different protest mobilizations that were totally seconded from different Vilagarcian estates.

Last Wednesday two mothers affected by the closure of the main line of the students of the center met in Pontevedra with the territorial inspector, but the position of Education was maintained in eliminating the class in Annex A Lomba. A meeting to which the representatives of the affected families attended with a total of 4,207 signatures of support in an evident sign of the solidarity of Vilagarcian society with the situation.

The situation took a radical turn yesterday afternoon when Ana Granja contacted the center to report the change in position of Education and the news of line maintenance. Lourdes Miguéns pointed out that “it is an enormous joy. They told us the day before that they were managing it, but we didn’t expect it to be so fast. It was great news.”

The course will have the eleven students enrolled in addition to the derivative to the A Lomba school, but the center’s commitment is to try to gather a greater number of enrollments for the next one and avoid risks.

Lourdes Miguéns did not want to miss the opportunity to “thank everyone who, individually and collectively, supported us in this fight that has been resolved in the best way.”
