Education: Open days of the “Iklyle-Fez” cultural center of the Mohammed VI Foundation

Recently inaugurated, the center which will begin its activities on October 1st received the first group of students as part of these open days which will continue until next Saturday.

The group of students from the Mohammed VI school in Fez learned about the components of the center, its activities and its objectives before taking part in several workshops led by supervisors from the center.

In a statement to MAP, Hassan Ez Zaim, director of Art and Culture at the Mohammed VI Foundation, underlined the importance of these open days which will allow beneficiaries, particularly students from establishments in the region, to discover the services offered through this center.

This new structure, which is added to the others already open in Rabat, Tangier and Tetouan, reflects the interest shown by the Foundation in culture alongside the social aspect, indicated Mr. Ez Zaim, adding that the center offers its members a series of rich and varied activities.

For Mr. Ez Zaim, the city of Fez deserves a center of this type in the sense that it is equipped with quality equipment and frameworks.

According to the Foundation, these days constitute an essential opportunity to present the center, and to make known, in advance, its various cultural and artistic services (media library, workshops, cultural activities, etc.) to the Education-Training family and the greater audience.

For three days, the center will offer its visitors a rich and varied program, suitable for adults and children, according to the foundation, which also includes guided tours allowing potential subscribers to explore the different spaces of the center, to discover the range of services offered and to open up to new cultural horizons.

Alongside these guided tours, artistic workshops (painting, drawing, music and photography) are also offered to the public present, in addition to educational games and cultural activities led by professional supervisors, with a view to offering the audience a a taste of the enriching and fun sensory experiences promised by the center.

These JPOs are aimed at audiences from all backgrounds, whether or not they are art and culture lovers, the Foundation said. These include members of the Foundation from the region, students and educational staff from schools, as well as the city’s socio-cultural associations.

The “Iklyle Fez” center is part of the Foundation’s network of cultural centers, which also includes the “Iklyle” centers located in Rabat, Tangier and Tetouan.

Located near historical sites such as the Jnane Sbil Garden and the Bab Riafa Gate, “Iklyle Fez” extends over 2000 m², spread over two floors.

Intended to be a place of exchange and discovery for members of the Foundation and for residents of the region, the center has a media library with 12,000 physical resources and more than 68,000 digital resources.

It also houses spaces dedicated to reading, cultural activities, as well as the practice of various artistic disciplines in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, photography, musical awakening and dramatic arts workshops.

Activities such as manual workshops, audiovisual screening sessions, conference debates and cultural days will also be offered by the center team, once operational.

According to the foundation, the network of Iklyle cultural centers will be extended as part of its 2018-2028 ten-year plan, to cover the different regions of the Kingdom.
