During the session devoted to oral questions in the House of Representatives, Mr. Benmoussa insisted on the need to guarantee students the constitutional right to learning, noting that the government has worked to open a serious and responsible dialogue which resulted in the signing of an agreement with the most representative unions.

A national plan has been developed for the management of school time, with the aim of ensuring the education of students for the rest of the school year, he said, specifying that the extension of the school year by one week takes into account the dates of entrance exams to national and international higher institutes.

Furthermore, the ministry has looked at school programs in order to support integrated sessions and focus on the essentials, Mr. Benmoussa noted, stressing that the holidays will be used to strengthen academic support for all students in educational establishments.

These measures reflect the government’s concern and desire to take advantage, responsibly, of the remaining time in the school year, he said.

Regarding salary deductions, Mr. Benmoussa assured that the government has adopted a flexible approach in this matter, in the sense that it committed in December not to apply them to teachers who returned to work in educational establishments after the holidays.

And to specify that teachers who return to work will have the possibility of engaging in educational support and benefiting from compensation for overtime.
