Oyem, March 5, 2024, (AGP) – The special delegate to Oyem town hall, Jean Christophe Owono Nguema, undertook a field visit to the site to house the future Ndava primary school located in the 2nd arrondissement this the municipality. The construction of this public establishment will be financed by the American military command for Africa (AFRICOM), noted the AGP.

The site designated and developed for this purpose is ready to accommodate the construction of this educational establishment, the start of which is imminent, according to a source at the United States Embassy.

In Oyem, AFRICOM has already financed the expansion work of the Franco-Gabonese Friendship school and that of the public school in the Endome district in the commune.

« After the work of the Franco-Gabonese Friendship school and that of Endome, it appeared that part of the program’s funding is still available. As a result, the special delegate at the town hall therefore requested from the American side the construction of a new primary school in the Ndava district, since it does not have one. Young learners are forced to walk long distances to go to school » said a source close to the matter.

Regarding the current project, it will be erected on an area of 5000 m2 at a cost of two hundred and fifty (250) million FCFA. This structure will include a block made up of classrooms, accommodation for the school director, a secretariat and a meeting room for teachers.

Remember that AFRICOM was created in 2017. Its mission is to protect and defend the interests of the United States in Africa. It focuses, among other things, on education and the creation of a peaceful environment that can guarantee good governance and sustainable development.
