Effects of potassium supplementation in patients with chronic kidney injury

Additional potassium intake via potassium chloride supplements resulted in a slight increase in plasma potassium levels in patients with stage 3-4 chronic kidney damage (CNS). This may lead to hyperkalaemia in elderly patients and those with higher baseline plasma potassium levels.
