‘Efforts are in progress to make the roads passable’ – Oman Police

Oman: The Royal Oman Police has informed that the efforts to restore traffic and make the roads damaged by rain passable are in progress. Traffic has been brought back to normal in many places. Heavy rains caused damage in Al Awabi and Rustaq in Southern Bathina Governorate, Ibri and Yankal in Dahira Governorate and Niswa, Al Hamra and Bahla in Dakhilia Governorate.

Damage occurred to roads and houses where the plaintiffs were passing. Officials say that around 100 houses have been damaged in Rustaq. Electricity and water supply were interrupted in many places. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance said that power supply has been restored in most places.

The Meteorological Center has informed that rains are likely to continue in the Al Hajar mountain areas and the desert areas of Al Wusta and Dhofar. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and IT said that the bridge in Al Hashiya area on the road from Nakhal to Al Awabi is damaged and motorists should be careful.
