Egypt.. A student hangs himself inside his room in the university dormitory!

A student at Cairo University committed suicide by hanging himself in his room at the university campus, amid reports that initial investigations revealed that the cause of the suicide was the pressure of studying.

According to the “Egypt Times” website, “the security forces received a notification from the security services assigned to Cairo University, stating that there was a body of a hanged student inside a room in the university dormitory.”

“Immediately, the security services moved to the scene of the incident, and found the body of the student Omar M. (23 years old), a third-year student at the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University. It was found that he was hanged and suspended from a fire pipe.”

According to the Masrawy website, “The initial investigation into the incident revealed that the young man committed suicide while he was at the university campus, taking the second-term exams, due to the pressure of studying.”

In turn, “the Public Prosecution decided to keep the body in the hospital morgue, and ordered investigations to determine the reason for the student’s decision to end his life, as well as to empty the surveillance cameras to determine the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary legal measures regarding it.”

Cairo University mourned the student Omar M., a third-year student at the Faculty of Medicine, who committed suicide in the university dormitory.

The university said in a statement, “As soon as it learned of the incident, the university administration rushed to inform the relevant authorities. The university president also immediately assigned the vice president for education and student affairs to prepare a detailed memorandum on the incident and to investigate its circumstances. Once completed, it will be indicated that the matter will be referred to the administrative investigation at the central administration of legal affairs at the university.”

The university administration confirmed that it “will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to deal with such incidents, in light of the results of the ongoing investigations within the university or with the competent authorities.”

Cairo University also stressed its “keenness to provide psychological support services to all university members who need them, in the presence of service centers that were established several years ago for this purpose.”
