Egypt: Daily newspaper +Al-Masri al-Yaoum+ underlines the importance of France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara
Cairo – The Egyptian daily “Al-Masri al-Yaoum” highlighted on Monday the importance of the recent decision by France, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, supporting Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
In a column, journalist Suleiman Gouda emphasizes that the support of France, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara is of “particular importance”, considering that this position is reinforced by the political weight of Paris among European capitals.
The timing of this decision, which coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His glorious ancestors, gives it all its political and strategic significance, writes Mr. Gouda.
In this regard, the journalist points out that the announcement made by French President Emmanuel Macron in support of Moroccan sovereignty was repeated repeatedly by the audiovisual and written media, given the place that France represents “in the past, present and future” of Morocco.
In the same vein, the daily affirms that the Sahara remains a sacred cause for Moroccans, noting that the French support expressed at the highest level strengthens the Moroccan position and consolidates the relations of cooperation between the two countries.
