Eight companies compete for the design of electronic voting

San Salvador. The president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Dora Esmeralda Martínez, announced Thursday that eight companies showed interest in participating in the tender for the design and implementation of electronic voting.

This modality will be used by compatriots who, residing abroad, wish to exercise the right to vote and according to the Special Law on Emission of Suffrage, recently approved by the Legislative Assembly, this right may be exercised by voting through a hardware or over the internet, through a site for which the TSE is responsible.

“I want to inform the population and the media that, after the process of receiving expressions of interest, for the design and implementation of the electronic voting system for the 2024 Elections, there is interest from eight companies,” said the official.

Martínez added that the collegiate body will begin the analysis of the expressions of interest presented to the TSE, to open the contracting process for the design and implementation of the electronic voting system for next year’s general elections.

Meanwhile, the TSE plenary session holds work sessions to follow up on the execution of the actions framed in the General Election Plan (Plagel) of 2024, when deputies of the Legislative Assembly and the Central American Parliament, municipal councils will be elected and the President of the Republic.
