Eight months after rescuing injured fawn, she is fighting to keep him home

by time news

A resident of Saint-Jean-des-Ollières (Puy-de-Dôme) is fighting to keep Bambine, a female deer she took in her home eight months ago. A friend of hers found her seriously injured on the side of the road last May. The little deer, barely a week old, had just been hit by a car, reports The mountain.

After trying to contact a specialized association, without much result, the woman decided to bring the animal to her friend living in Saint-Jean-des-Ollières. Passionate about animals, the latter did not hesitate to welcome the fawn to take care of it. Eight months later, the animal is doing wonderfully despite some small after-effects.

The only downside: an anonymous denunciation risks separating Bambine from her savior. In December, the Puydomoise was contacted by an agent from the French Office for Biodiversity. He warned her that she risked three years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros if she kept the animal at home without authorization. The woman therefore began the process of obtaining a certificate of capacity and an authorization to open. In the meantime, she has launched a petition to try to convince the authorities.
