Mass Shooting Leaves Eight Injured in Chicago’s River North Neighborhood

Early Sunday morning, a violent exchange of gunfire in Chicago’s River North neighborhood left eight people injured, according to authorities from the Chicago Police Department. The incident occurred around 2:38 a.m. outside in the 300 block of West Erie Street, after a group of individuals engaged in a physical altercation.

Four individuals are currently hospitalized in critical condition as a result of the shooting. Among them is a 43-year-old woman who sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was rushed to Stroger Hospital. Additionally, a 32-year-old man suffered from gunshot wounds throughout his body and was also transported to Stroger for urgent medical attention.

Two other adult males, one shot in the head and the other in the abdomen, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, informed the police.

On a slightly more positive note, three of the victims are reported to be in good condition. A 27-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the foot, while a 25-year-old man was shot in the groin. Both individuals were promptly transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Furthermore, a 23-year-old woman, who was shot in the foot, received medical treatment at Stroger Hospital.

Another 27-year-old man, who sustained gunshot wounds throughout his body, is said to be in stable condition after being transferred to Northwestern Hospital, according to authorities.

As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody, and the Chicago Police Department has initiated a thorough investigation into the incident. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the shooting to step forward and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
