As the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klimenko, announced, as a result of the first shooting, one person died, and the roofs of several floors of the hospital collapsed. Evacuation of patients and staff began.
Rescuers and police arrived at the scene of the shooting to help people, and while the patients were being evacuated, the Russians launched another strike.
“Sumi. Russia attacked one of the city’s hospitals with “Shahed”. Now it is known about eight dead. I express my condolences to the families and relatives. Eleven people were injured, 113 patients were evacuated from the hospital,” Zelensky writes on the Telegram platform.
According to him, the rescue operation is currently underway.
“Everyone in the world who talks about this war should pay attention to where Russia is striking. They are at war with hospitals, civilian objects, people’s lives. Only force can force Russia to peace. Peace by force is the only right way. Thank you all , which helps us on this path,” the president added.
As announced by the Sumu District Prosecutor’s Office, the first strike by the “Shahed” drone was carried out at 7:35 a.m. local time. 50 minutes later, as the evacuation was underway and the police were treating the injured, another “Shahed” carried out a second strike.
As a result of drone strikes, the hospital building was severely damaged, several of its floors were destroyed.
