Ejar Online Platform: The New Requirement for Residential Rent Payments in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh ∙ The requirement to pay the building rent through Ejar platform is in effect. The authority said it will gradually stop issuing electronic receipt vouchers for new contracts. Saudi Real Estate Authority spokesperson Tayseer Al Mufaraj said that this is necessary to prevent consumers from being deceived and to make financial transactions transparent.

It is estimated that more than 80 lakh tenancy agreements have been completed through the portal since its inception. About 66 lakhs of these are contracts for residential units. Contracts for remaining 13 lakh commercial units. About 20,000 contracts are registered every day. The figures show the transparency of the Eajar portal and the trust the customers have in the portal.

The portal also facilitates ensuring the reliability of documents provided by related parties at the time of contract with related government departments. The Eajar portal has facilities for online attestation of contracts from offices under the Department of Justice and payment of rent through various channels. The authority also informed that many services are available through the portal, including the facility of payment in installments.
