The farm produces electricity with a capacity of 200 megawatts. Ekupia will supply autonomous robots for cleaning panels in the amount of 7.2 million dollars. The robots are adapted to work in panels that move according to the angle of the sun

The company Ecoppia, which develops autonomous robots for cleaning solar panels, reported today (Sunday) to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange that it signed an agreement to supply robots for a large-scale solar farm in Chile, which produces electricity with a capacity of 200 megawatts.

The robots will be delivered in three stages. In the first phase, the company will supply robots for panels with a capacity of 45 megawatts. The next two steps depend on quality measures. The company estimates that if the agreement is realized in full, it will generate revenue for the company in the amount of 7.2 million dollars.

Ekupia will provide the project with the T4 model robot, adapted to work on tracker solar panels, which change their angle of inclination throughout the day to maintain a direct angle of impact between the sun’s rays and the panel surface and maximize output.

The T4 is equipped with motion sensors that allow it to move freely over the array of panels, and also jump from bracket to bracket using bridges that connect them, and return to the docking station at the end of the job. “Tracker” solar panels are especially common in South America, and Ecofia developed the T4 in 2019 specifically to penetrate markets where these types of panels are used.

Akopia’s robots operate autonomously and clean the panels every night, removing about 99% of the dust that has accumulated on them during the day. One robot is able to clean about 1,200 panels a night.

Ekopia’s revenues in the first nine months of 2022 amounted to $2.9 million, compared to $5.5 million in the corresponding period in 2021. The net loss amounted to $17.4 million, compared to a net loss of $8.7 million in the corresponding period in 2021.
