A year after launching the route to Tokyo, El Al is returning the route to the popular destination and expanding it from a seasonal format (March-November) to a full annual format, in order to respond to the increase in Israelis’ desire to fly to Japan for tourism purposes and, of course, the business sector.

The tickets will be sold on the company’s website and at the travel agents at a special price starting at $999, from the beginning of March to the middle of June – a period that is considered the peak of the tourist season in Japan. The flight schedule is open for sale until December 2024, when the first flight is expected to take off on 26 Adar A (March 6, 2024). The new annual format of the line will include up to 4 flights per week on the Tel Aviv-Tokyo route throughout the year.

El Al’s first flight to Tokyo took place in March 2023, as you remember, and a few months later the company signed a codeshare agreement (CODESHARE) with the Japanese airline ANA, which will allow El Al passengers convenient onward flights to a variety of destinations in Japan.

Shlomi Zafarani, VP of Commercial and Aviation Relations at El Al: “The line to Tokyo was launched with great success last year and won the sympathy of passengers during the months of its operation. In light of the growing need among Israelis to take airing flights and among the business sector that continues to maintain extensive working relationships in Japan, we decided to expand the line’s activity to a full annual format that includes up to 4 weekly flights. Japan is considered a country is very sympathetic towards Israel, and will join the list of destinations to which the company operates direct flights. We continue to make adjustments to the flight schedule according to the emerging need among passengers, and to be the air bridge between Israel and the world.”
