At El Conquis, food is a very precious commodity. So much so that, given the lack of food to put in their mouths, at any given moment a few insignificant cans can end up tipping the scales in favor or against any contestant on this demanding adventure reality show. For this reason, many manage to economize and save strength for the key moments, which is where you have to give your all in the most demanding challenges. This was very clear to the 12 contestants who achieved reunification, yes, only they did not have the nice surprise that the organization of El Conquistador del Caribe had prepared for them. And, of course, it was Julian Iantzi and Lur Errekondo who were in charge of giving them the ‘beautiful’ news.
Hamza, Tole, Txoskin and Etxe (Yocahu team), Olaia, Aitor, Sojo, Zuru and Ilia (Guaban), Locuras and Irune (Corocote) and Helen (Atabey)… the twelve contestants of the successful EITB contest met in the vicinity of a cliff located in Playa lance del norte. There, Julian Iantzi took the floor and presented the new phase of El Conquis. “We are talking about the unified stage, an individual fight, in which you have to show who is the strongest here, the most strategic and the most complete,” he explained before bringing up the issue of food. And, without coming to account and pretending to be clueless, he asked: “How much food do you have?”
The contestants of El Conquis, without extra food
The twelve contestants of El Conquistador del Caribe feared the worst. And so it was: they ended up confiscating all their food. And with the excuse that everyone started the final phase on equal terms. The first to speak was Zuru, who was bragging about 12 cans. Julian Iantzi, smiling and ironic like few others, asked him to drop ballast and empty his supplies. «Let there be nothing left in the backpack, eh, Zuru? Don’t be a skunk », he snapped. The contestant Guabán took it well: «No, no, no. I have it all in the bag.” And he left his provisions on the ground.
Then it was Aitor’s turn, who kept another 10 cans safe. And the presenter of El Conquis, to his own: “Complain so much that you don’t have to eat and… what is coming out here!”, he assured surprised. “Saving them for the final stretch”, he justified himself with a grim face.
Others like Sojo also swam in abundance, with 10 (“Ten cans? Have you been eating air?” Julian Iantzi asked him), while Helen, Locuras or Ilia resigned themselves to getting rid of their most precious food. His face said it all. With the latter, the presenter from Lesaka even had a good mood, although he was not exactly amused: “Is she sure she has a bottle of cider,” said the one from Lesaka. La Guabán lowered her head and chose to leave her little treasure. “It is useless for us to save, if you start taking us now… I now regret not eating them,” she lamented.
The one who did not take the decision well was Locuras. “A p… shit,” the contestant Corocote confirmed resignedly, leaving his only boat on the ground. “Just one can?” asked Julian Iantzi surprised. And Follies answered, powerless before the decision. “What do you want me to have, I’ve been hungrier than a dog…”.
The one who added humor to the matter was Tole, since he reminded Julian Iantzi that he had not yet seized the cans. “I have to be honest, you haven’t taken the cans from me,” he told her, laughing. The presenter of El Conquis took it humorously and replied: “I was testing you… I tell him or I don’t tell him…”.
Once all the food had been requisitioned, Julián Iantzi congratulated the contestants and began the new unified stage. The moment of truth in El Conquis. «Individual fight and so that you all compete on equal terms you will all start from scratch. From scratch and your ingenuity: you will have to make the shanty, you have to find a living to eat… you have to organize yourself. It is a survival program, there is not so much left for the grand finale: ingenuity, head, turning it around. To give everything in the games », he added.
First betrayals in El Conquistador del Caribe
The reunification of El Conquis began agitated, with betrayals by one another and hopes for revenge in the near future. It was the case of Hamza, the first nominee and who was especially hurt by Helen’s vote. She is she tried to justify her decision but the contestant Yocahu did not care. “I hope he comes back! He’s going to have to put up with me. Are you going to play me? No, not to me. I haven’t gotten mad here yet and everyone knows it. And when I get angry I am another person », she threatened.
With Irune already nominated for having lost the immunity game, there was only one more name to choose from: and that of Aitor came out, one of the strongest a priori of El Conquistador del Caribe.
And this was demonstrated in the elimination test of the contest, where he had to cross a large zip line up to two times. He did it, yes, and also showing great strength and intensity. Hamza also managed to finish the challenge, although in a more calm way than the contestant Guabán. The one with the worst luck was Irune, who had an accident with a carabiner and threw in the towel prematurely. “I can’t, I’ve hurt myself. I don’t want any more,” she said, before terminating her participation in El Conquis 2023.
