The ceremony of raising the Pavilion took place in the presence, in particular, of the president of the communal council of Sidi Abed, Mohamed Safari, the director of institutional relations of the OCP in Jorf Lasfar, Mehdi Dakhni, as well as officials of external services and representatives of civil society.
Sidi Abed beach received this distinction as part of the national “Clean Beaches” program, by meeting the criteria of bathing water quality, information, awareness and environmental education, health and safety, as well as development and management.
On this occasion, Said Zoughi, director of the beach, stressed that Sidi Abed, one of the main beaches in the province of El Jadida, obtained this label for the 4th consecutive year thanks to its compliance with the standards defined by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the protection of the environment.
Mr. Zoughi added, in a statement to MAP, that the Sidi Abed municipal council, in collaboration with its partners, ensures continuous and rigorous management of the beach’s infrastructure, strictly respecting the Foundation’s standards, particularly in terms of cleanliness, prevention, maintenance, equipment and safety, as well as environmental awareness and activities.
For his part, Rachid Tber, head of the “Clean Beaches” program in the province of El Jadida on behalf of the OCP, indicated that the rehabilitation of the beach and the creation of animation programs are the subject of a partnership agreement bringing together the OCP, the municipal council of Sidi Abed, the prefecture of the province of El Jadida and the Mohammed VI Foundation for the protection of the environment, in order to guarantee conditions of cleanliness, safety and summer entertainment.
He added that the Foundation provided the necessary equipment in accordance with the specifications, with the aim of creating awareness-raising activities on the importance of preserving the environment, signage and safety for holidaymakers, as well as recreational workshops for holidaymakers and visitors to the beach.
The Blue Flag is an international benchmark for the quality of coastal sites. The renewal of this label is based on the preservation and continuous improvement of the achievements, evaluated annually by the FEE.
For the summer of 2024, this Pavilion will be hoisted on 27 beaches, four marinas and, for the first time in Morocco, on a mountain lake.
