El Salvador and the airline Iberia establish an agreement for the positioning and promotion of tourism in the country in Europe

The Government of El Salvador and the airline Iberia formalized an agreement today to strengthen the tourism promotion of our country and the flow of tourists from Spain and the European continent.

Said agreement was signed by the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, and the director of Alliances and Strategic Agreements of the Spanish company, Víctor Ocaña; and included the participation of the Chancellor of the Republic, Alexandra Hill, as a witness of honor.

The official pointed out that this portfolio, through its economic diplomacy strategy, will support these efforts, which aim to increase the position of our nation in that market, as well as the arrival of foreign visitors.

For his part, the representative of the airline affirmed that our country has an extraordinary potential that is being used very well, which is in the interest of the air transport company.

To this end, he explained that a promotional campaign will be launched in Spain and Europe, with a presence in external and digital media, such as the airline’s website, where a banner and an arrival space will be set up so that users can learn more about The Savior.

“It is the website with the most visits in the field of tourism, aviation and business, in Spain. Also, actions will be carried out on our social networks, where we have more than 3 million followers to whom we are going to talk about El Salvador”, said the representative of Iberia.

The initiative also includes the presentation of promotional videos prepared by the Ministry of Tourism, which will be projected on the entertainment consoles on board the company’s planes; in addition to visits from the media, travel agencies, tour operators, congress organizers among others.

“This is a range of initiatives that I am convinced will bring the success that we all desire,” said director Ocaña.

Currently, the Spanish airline moves an average of 27.7 million passengers a year, and offers flights to 133 destinations in the world, including El Salvador, where it maintains a daily arrival and departure to and from Madrid.

The company representative assured that, for this year, they have available up to 200,000 seats for passengers bound for El Salvador, an amount that far exceeds any previous data on this route.

The president of the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker, and the president of the Board of Directors of the Civil Aviation Authority, Jorge Puquirre, also participated in the signing of the agreement with Iberia. In addition, the Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and Human Mobility, Adriana Mira and Cindy Mariella Portal, respectively, as well as representatives of various sectors linked to the local tourism industry, were accompanied.
