El Salvador broke, and by quite a bit, the record established last year in Rio de Janeiro for the number of countries participating in the youth world championship, reported the ISA website in the team section of the championship.

There will be 54 teams participating in the event, which far exceeds the 46 nations that had broken the record made by El Salvador 2022 (of 45 countries).

The event that will take place between May 3 and 12 will feature surfers from: Argentina, Australia, Barbardos, Belgium, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Channel Islands, Chile, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, Republic Czech, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hawaii, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tahiti, Thailand, Trinidad and Toibago, United States, Uruguay, Ukraine, Venezuela and Wales.

At the level of those registered for the event, that is, surfers who occupy a place in the event, being able to compete in more than one division, the tournament surpassed the record that had been established in El Salvador 2022 of 419 participants as it reached 447 divided into the four categories Under 18 and Under 16 men and women.

Several teams compete with the 12 that make up a complete squad, such as the powers that are Brazil, Australia, the United States and Hawaii and others with one or two participants, such as Latvia, Finland or Hungary.
