The National Anti-Drug Commission of El Salvador issued an alert for the entry of fentanyl, its derivatives and analogues, after a report claims “that a considerable amount” of said drug has been seized.
According to a report from said commission consulted, vials have been seized that label fentalino in their identification vignette, “which was illicitly trafficked as contraband and has entered El Salvador.”
It indicates that “due to information from countries in the region, in which serious health problems and even death are reported, an alert is being issued.”

The report details that, according to the results reported by the Controlled Substances Laboratory of the Forensic Technical and Scientific Analysis Division of the National Civil Police (PNC), “substance 2 was identified in the transparent liquid contained in the seized blisters. -methyl fentanyl, a substance that is classified as a fentanyl derivative.”
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid, used as an analgesic or anesthetic medication, according to the National Anti-Drug Commission. It points out that its “euphoric” effect has promoted its non-medical use by drug users, particularly users of heroin or other opiates, and the development of a market for the illicit sale of fentanyl and its derivatives.
Heroin available on the streets is frequently adulterated with fentanyl or derivatives, he adds.
