The Government together with South Korea seeks to promote a feasibility project for a shipyard in the Port of La Unión, which will be in charge of the renowned international company Daeyoung Engineering.
“We have discussed two very important topics this day, with one of the main directors of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of South Korea and the Director of the company Daeyoung Engineering, our focus with them is the expansion of the Port of Acajutla and the project of a shipyard in the Port of La Unión,” said the president of CEPA, Federico Anliker.
The implementation of a shipyard will allow the maritime terminal to be a maintenance and repair center for vessels of international companies. This is a great opportunity since there is none on the coast from northern Mexico to Ecuador.
In addition, it will generate social development in the eastern area, sources of employment and economic growth for the country.
The purpose of this project is to convert the Port of La Unión into an anchor for multimodal shipping and commercial logistics development for the nation. Now, countries and companies from different parts of the world have El Salvador as a reliable reference for development and the point of arrival to the Central American region.
