“The legacy of these heroes will always be in El Salvador,” said the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, who recognized the work, bravery and determination of the eight victims, among them the Director General of the National Civil Police (PNC), Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, who lost their lives on September 8 in an airplane accident in the canton of San Eduardo, Pasaquina, La Unión.
“Winning the War Against Gangs has been thanks to God and thanks to the work of each of these heroes who gave their lives to fight crime. A proof of maximum sacrifice,” said the Head of State, who, in a solemn act, paid the Honor Guard and presented the National Flag to the families of the heroes, as a symbol of their sacrifice and the gratitude of an entire nation. He added that the legacy of the victims will be present in the new generations.
For his part, the Vice President of the Republic, Félix Ulloa, offered words recalling the work and legacy of the brave heroes, stating that their contribution was key to saving thousands of lives and enjoying a safe environment throughout the country.
Relatives, wives, friends, colleagues and Salvadorans remember the eight victims of the air tragedy as heroes, who gave their lives in the line of duty and who were part of the transformation of the country.
