Elche dismisses Machín

by time news

Elche announced on Monday the dismissal of Pablo Machín as the team’s first coach, after this weekend’s defeat at the Reale Arena against Real Sociedad and with the bottom team in the League and with a foot and a half in the Second Division.

The soriano has been the fifth technician who has spent this campaign without success for the Elche bench, the closest thing to an electric chair under the ownership of the Argentine Christian Bragarnik. Neither Francisco, nor Almirón, nor the interim Gallego and Mantecón, managed to bring the ship to a safe port before Machín.

Machín, who arrived at the franjiverde club in November last year to replace the Argentine Jorge Almirón, has led the Elche team in 14 games, 12 of them in the League and two in the Cup, and could not change the negative dynamics or come close to salvation despite the fact that their players competed well in almost all the clashes.

With two victories, the only ones for Elche this season, three draws and seven defeats in the League, Machín has not managed to convince the club leaders with his work. Since Elche only has 13 points, 14 from salvation with 36 to be played, for his substitute the plan will already be to make a team that will fight for promotion in Second Division next year.
