He tried to stab the police officers and was hit with two stun gun charges, but he freed himself from them and continued trying to attack the officers, according to police.
The police fired warning shots at the ground in an attempt to dissuade the elderly man, but to no avail. The man then ran towards one of the police officers, but was shot.

The elderly man was taken to Santa Marcelina Hospital and pronounced dead no local.
A knife used in the attack and the police officers’ weapons were seized and will undergo forensic examination.
The case was registered as threat, resistance and death resulting from opposition to police intervention.
UOL asked the SSP if any police officers were injured in the incident, but received no response on the matter.
