Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has said that Covaxin will only be given to beneficiaries aged 15-18 and that the elderly do not need a doctor’s certificate to receive the 3rd dose.

Elderly not required to produce doctor’s certificate for third dose: Govt: The Union Ministry of Health on Tuesday told state governments that people over the age of 60 do not need to submit any certification from a doctor to receive the third dose as the ‘precautionary’ dose of the corona vaccine is to be given to the elderly with co-morbidity.

On Tuesday, before the release of the Corona vaccine for children, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that 7.40 crore beneficiaries were eligible for the new phase of the immunization drive. He also said that the district authorities should find specialized vaccination centers to vaccinate the beneficiaries aged 15-18 years.

Similarly, Rajesh Bhushan told the states that 2.75 crore people over the age of 60 with co-morbidities are eligible for the precautionary dose. “All persons with co-morbidities over the age of 60 are not required to provide / submit any certification from a physician during precautionary medication. Such individuals are expected to seek the advice of their physician before deciding to use precautionary medicine, ”Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to the states.

On Tuesday, Rajesh Bhushan said that the personnel who were to be involved in the election process, especially in the states where the elections were to be held, would also be included in the category of frontline personnel eligible for the precautionary dose.

Rajesh Bhushan said that for any reason, all health workers and frontline workers under the age of 60 who are registered as citizens in the Co-WlN organization should obtain the appropriate status for health workers and frontline personnel to receive the precautionary measure. “However, in order to do so, they have to submit the employment certificate in the prescribed format. This facility is only available on-site at government vaccination centers. It can be obtained at the time of giving precautionary medicine at government vaccination centers, ”Rajesh Bhushan told the states.

Speaking on child vaccination, Rajesh Bhushan stressed that covacin should only be given to beneficiaries aged 15-18 and that districts should ensure that the vaccine is not adulterated. Rajesh Bhushan added, “Priority, individual corona vaccination centers should be identified.”

Rajesh Bhushan also said that states should “adequately release in advance the details of vaccination centers where vaccinations are available for 15-18 year olds”. “You can book appointments online or onsite (live). Services in on-site mode are available subject to the availability of vaccine sites. Beneficiaries are advised to find out at Co-WlN if there are places for their preferred vaccination center, ”said Rajesh Bhushan.

Rajesh Bhushan said that as a precautionary measure, the Co-WlN system would send SMS to such users when they receive the dose. “Registration and appointment services can be accessed online and onsite. The details of the precautionary measure will be appropriately reflected in the digital vaccination certificates developed from Co-WlN, ”said Rajesh Bhushan.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Bhushan has again issued warning signals that there are “opportunities for increased crowds” in the states where elections are being held. “It is important to increase vaccination coverage in these states over the next week and fortnight. To ensure that the speed and coverage of the corona vaccine is significantly increased, these states need to reconsider implementing daily district-wise vaccination programs, ”said Rajesh Bhushan.
