TRENTO. The Carabinieri of Trento, assisted by their colleagues from Mattarello, have reported a twenty-year-old, originally from the Province of Naples, considered responsible for a scam on an 85-year-old woman that took place on July 4 in Bolzano and another attempted scam in Civezzano.

A 70 year old resident in Civezzano she went to the Carabinieri headquarters in via Barbacovi in Trento to report what she believed to be – with good reason – an attempted scam against her. The woman, in fact, had been contacted shortly

first, on his cell phone, by a person who declared himself to be a “Marshal of the Carabinieri”: in particular, he had told the victim that his daughter had run into a serious legal problem for which she would be arrested if a cash “bail” was not paid in her favor.

Thanks to the lady’s intuition and report, however, the Carabinieri managed to show up in her place at the appointment she had agreed with the “Marshal”, thus identifying the accomplice who would have been responsible for collecting the infamous “bail”.

When searched, the arrested person was found in possession of 3000 euros in cashall in pieces of 100, the result of a further scam – this time successful – that the rapid investigations of the military have ascertained to have been committed in Bolzano, in the early afternoon, in the same manner, to the detriment of a local lady.

The Carabinieri relaunch the appeal to be wary of anyone who presents themselves on the phone as a relative, a member of the Police Force, a Municipal technician or an employee of any company that provides services, when the call is aimed at requesting money or a fee in jewelry in order to be able to meet a feared need.

The advice is to always call “112” even if you have the slightest doubt.
