Mayors and citizens are invited on Monday to gather in front of all the town halls of France, which will sound their sirens, after the car-ram attack on the home of the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de -Marne), the president of the Association of Mayors of France (AMF) announced on Sunday.

“The AMF has decided to call on elected officials and the population to mobilize, we are not giving up (…) and as such tomorrow at 12 p.m. we have decided with (…) all the mayors of France to call for a rally on the forecourts of town halls, we will sound the sirens (…) and we continue our daily work so that order returns, ”said David Lisnard on TF1.

The home of the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne) suffered an incendiary car-ram attack, forcing his family to flee, after a fifth night of riots following the death of Nahel, killed at age 17 by a policeman.

Investigation for “attempted assassination”

An investigation for “attempted murder” was opened by the Créteil prosecutor’s office after the facts of L’Haÿ-les-Roses, of “extreme gravity” according to the prosecutor.

Around 1:30 a.m., a burning vehicle entered the grounds of the house of Mayor Vincent Jeanbrun (LR), who was then at City Hall to manage another night of riots in his town of more than 30 000 inhabitants, south of Paris. The family’s front gate and car were burned.

“The first findings lead us to assume that the vehicle was launched to burn the flag,” said prosecutor Stéphane Hardouin, adding that an accelerant had been discovered “in a bottle of coke”.
