BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said, Election Commission is one of those responsible for destroying democracy in our country. At this time, he also demanded that those responsible for violating the constitutional system should be tried by law.
He said these things in a press conference at BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan in the capital on Thursday (September 5). The press conference was organized by the Agriculturalists Association of Bangladesh (ABB) to protest the publication of the news in the media.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, a terrible monster has fallen through the earth-shaking movement of students. BNP, 20-party alliance and like-minded alliances are continuing this movement. A backdrop of 5 August led to the fall of the dictatorship of Sheikh Hasina.
Our party is a political party with a deep commitment to freedom and democracy, Rizvi said, saying that to join hands with the tyrants is to be completely dishonest with the blood of martyrs. We have respect for all religions.
He said leaders of a political party with a past record of violence are talking about forgiveness. What is the forgiveness of mass murderers? Genocide and those involved, including law enforcement, must be prosecuted. He also commented that the ghost of Sheikh Hasina still exists in all office courts. He also commented that currently a special group of people are being recruited in educational institutions which has come to the public’s attention.
In response to the questions of the journalists, he said that all media were closed in 1997. Awami League established Bakshal by keeping only four newspapers. This time Awami League established Bakshal in a different way. Newspapers have not been closed, however (Digant TV, Islamic TV, Amar Desh, Dinkal have been closed) but have been owned by Awami League loyalists, they are working as Awami League’s media all the time. The main function of the media is to uncover the truth and serve objective news. This is democracy. If it goes beyond that, it is not the media, it is the media or the rod of dictatorship.
Criticizing the Chief Election Commissioner, he said, you announced the results of the robbery-robbery election alone, why did you not resign? The job was important to you, didn’t you remember the country? The Election Commission is one of those responsible for destroying democracy in our country.
In the press conference, agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim said, I have never occupied a day in my political life. I have remained steadfast in the path of truth. Honestly, I did politics. However, a mass media has spread in our name. Abdur Razzaq and Naseem, the dictator’s friends, made this agricultural institution a place of occupation and extortion.
Agriculturist Rashidul Hasan Harun said that the Institute of Agriculture has not taken over BNP. After 17 long years it is free from dictatorship. After August 5, when the victory was achieved after the movement of the students and the people, the allies of the dictatorship of Awami League fled.
