The New Democratic Marxist-Leninist Party put forward demands including the holding of elections; Jaffna. They protested in front of Central Bus Stand today on Friday.
In the morning, party supporters gathered in front of the central bus station and started protesting.
During the protest, they raised various slogans such as stop the increase in electricity tariff, reduce the price of goods, hold the local government elections together, do not sell the northern marine resources to India, and do not exploit the working people.
Meanwhile, Election Commission Chairman Nimal Punjihewa has said that the date for the local council elections will be decided next week.
Nimal Punjihewa also mentioned that the date will be decided after discussing with other parties related to the election including the Government Press Department, Ministry of Finance and Police Department.
