The mayor of the city, Zvika Brot, continues to grow stronger: his replacement Eli Yariv, head of the Bat Yam Ehta faction, announced on the Sabbath his support for Brot also in the upcoming elections to be held at the end of the year. What it means: Brut, who won big support in the last published polls, is getting another boost from his senior partner. More agreements are now expected to be signed, this after the Yisrael Beitenu party already signed an agreement with Brot and joined the coalition under his leadership a few months ago.

Yariv is the oldest councilor in the city council, and in the last elections he won four mandates. He serves as the holder of the education and culture portfolio, and together with Brot led the local education system to the achievement of a 90.6 percent success rate in matriculation.

Yariv said: “Zvika has proven that he is worthy of the public’s trust. I promise that together we will continue to work hard for you, around the clock, and we will never allow Bat Yam to go back.”

Brut himself published a post in which he thanked his opponent for his friendship, partnership and trust, and wrote: There is still a lot of work ahead of us and we will do it professionally, with discretion, transparency and clean hands.”
