The circular setting out the manner in which supervisors, secretaries, registrars and representatives are appointed in the 2023 elections has been issued
A few days left for the 2023 elections and the A1′ Department of the Supreme Court issued a circular for the appointment of supervisors and their secretaries, tax collectors and judicial representatives.

The circular provides detailed clarifications for their appointment in the electoral districts where citizens will vote.

How supervisors and registrars are appointed
The heads of the Services of the Council of State, the Court of Auditors, the Courts of Appeal and the Prosecutions of Appeals of Civil and Criminal Justice and the Administrative Courts of Appeal send to the Supreme Court the name lists of the judicial officers of their service, who are entitled to be appointed as registrars for the Greek territory and in which the electoral district from which they come must be indicated.

How judicial representatives are appointed
The head of the Legal Council of the State, the presidents of the Bar Associations and the Notaries Associations of the whole country, send the name lists of their members, who according to the law are appointed representatives of the judicial authority. The above lists will not include those who have exceeded the age of 67, those who have been deprived of the right to vote and, of course, those who intend to run for office to be elected members of parliament.

In particular, the nominal lists of judicial officers do not include those who have received a special normal leave without pay, leave before and after childbirth, leave to raise children, sick leave or educational leave or participate in training programs of international and European judicial training organizations, those who are on leave, holiday or have been put out of service or have been permanently or temporarily suspended (in the latter case, for as long as the temporary suspension lasts).

Similar obstacles also apply to the judicial representatives of the State Legal Council, while the lists of lawyers and practicing lawyers cannot include those who are suspended from practicing law. The restrictions for notaries and court officials are the same as above.

When is the application deadline for legal representatives
Applications from lawyers for the appointment of representatives of the judicial authority throughout the territory will be accepted until May 5.

Those interested should submit them to the email address

It is also noted that applications for preference/exclusion of candidate representatives of the judicial authority will be made:

For lawyers’ and notaries’ associations, through their respective electronic systems.
For judicial and prosecutorial officers, as well as the other categories of candidates, through the electronic application platform of the Supreme Court.
Therefore, lawyers, practicing lawyers and notaries will submit the preference applications electronically and will be informed by their associations about the start of the process.

Representatives of the judicial authority abroad are appointed by lottery permanent ambassadorial or consular attachés and secretaries, administrative employees of embassies and consulates, graduates of Higher or Higher Schools with grade 6 or above who serve in the relevant diplomatic region. For this reason, applications for the appointment of Judicial Representatives abroad will not be made.
