As far as is known, this is the first time in Israel that a major group in the Israeli economy has made a strategic decision to keep and manage all its information on a cloud. To date, companies have run specific activities on top of the cloud, such as backups, development environments and more. Moving the entire enterprise computing array to the cloud allows the group to implement new activities flexibly and quickly. Most often, a company that has acquired an activity is required to establish information infrastructure that will enable the activity including the purchase of servers, storage space, communication components, operating systems, integration, testing and more. Transferring all organizational information to the cloud frees the group from the need to operate as an infrastructure company and allows it to focus on its core business activities. Oracle recently opened the first public cloud in Israel, located 9 floors underground at a site in Jerusalem, from where it provides cloud computing services to leading companies and organizations in the economy.
