Electric Avenue will release 4,000 extra tickets exclusively for greater Christchurch residents following a site expansion at Hagley Park on February 26 and 27, 2027. The festival, headlined by Calvin Harris and Kings of Leon, previously sold out its general release allocations within minutes.
Festival Expands at Hagley Park
Electric Avenue is expanding its footprint for the February 26 and 27, 2027 festival in Christchurch. Organisers secured an agreement allowing the two-day event to temporarily use part of an adjoining Hagley Golf Course fairway, pushing festival capacity to 50,000 fans each day and 100,000 across the entire weekend.
Festival management announced that 4,000 additional tickets will go exclusively to people living in Christchurch, Selwyn, and Waimakariri. Moving specific festival infrastructure onto the golf course fairway unlocked the extra room within the main venue boundaries.
High Demand Drives Ticket Scarcity and Resale Prices
When final-release tickets went on sale on September 24, exactly 58,674 individual fans logged in to compete for just 15,000 available passes. General-sale and One NZ allocations were exhausted within minutes.
Tickets quickly appeared online listed for as much as quadruple their original value. Festival director Callam Mitchell noted that selling 32,000 weekend passes before a single artist was announced served as an incredible vote of confidence from the public.

An economic impact report from the previous year noted that attendees spent almost $14 million during the event.
Headliners Join Diverse Music Lineup
Calvin Harris anchors the electronic roster in a New Zealand exclusive performance marking his first appearance in the country since 2019. Multi-platinum rock band Kings of Leon share top billing, returning to Christchurch for the first time in 19 years.
The 2027 festival bill pairs massive international stadium acts with deep homegrown representation. The lineup spans multiple generations of electronic, rock, and pop music. Kasabian, Jungle, Kenny Dope, and Underworld join the international roster, with Underworld bringing their landmark 1990s track Born Slippy NUXX
to Hagley Park. Modern pop acts Bebe Rexha, Tove Lo, and Kehlani sit alongside drum and bass heavyweights Hybrid Minds, Wilkinson, and K Motionz.
Local favourites feature prominently across the weekend schedule. Fat Freddy’s Drop headlines Friday’s domestic contingent, while Saturday highlights Ladyhawke, Home Brew, and SACHI alongside the return of Th’ Dudes, who mark 50 years since their formation.

“That’s the fun of this festival, You can come for Kings of Leon and Kasabian, Calvin Harris and Major Lazer, Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo, Jungle and Lime Cordiale, or Hybrid Minds and Wilkinson. It shouldn’t necessarily all work on one festival bill – but it does.”
