The amount paid by electric car owners to recharge at public points in the United States will undergo an 11% readjustment in March. The price per kilowatt hour will rise from US$0.43 to US$0.48. Unlike Brazil, where most of the charging points installed on the streets and even in commercial establishments are free, in the US all spaces charge for recharging.

The readjustment follows the inflation rates in the United States and has been suffering from complaints from electric car owners. For owners of the “EA pass+” card to obtain discounts, the value of a kilowatt rises from US$ 0.31 to US$ 0.36. At charging points that charge per minute plugged in, the price rose from US$0.16 to US$0.19 per minute.
The national plan for the installation of high-speed points for recharging electric cars, foresees an investment of US$ 900 million, around R$ 4.8 billion. There are currently around 600 high-speed charging points and there will be 1,200 over the next three years.
The cost of recharging an electric car at public points across North America now ranges from $40 to $50.
