Garbage floating in the streets of corporations, municipalities, boroughs and panchayats is being taken to the landfill. Trucks, tractors and push carts were used for this purpose.
In the narrow streets, the cleaning staff had great difficulty in transporting lorries and tractors. Therefore, from 2018, mini battery vehicles have been provided to the localities to carry out the clean-up work without any delay. However, there were various practical problems with the use of these vehicles. In addition, many vehicles were paralyzed in municipal offices due to substandard batteries.
Of the 34 vehicles in the Srivilliputhur municipality, 8 vehicles are currently on display. The same situation is found in all the localities in the district. Due to insufficient funds to repair this, many vehicles are paralyzed without being able to buy new batteries.
So no matter what the clean-up operation is, most of the streets are clogged with sewage and debris piled up all over the district.
