Subsidies to electricity bills are also being considered for September, said the Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodore Skylakakis.

Speaking to the Real 97.8 radio station, the minister said that there are resources from taxation and the subsidy is also being considered in September, until there is a de-escalation of prices.

He added, however, that the government is waiting until the final prices are announced by the providers.

“I’m closer to getting a subsidy. We don’t consider that the price set in August is for households, without a small boost”, the minister emphasized and added:

“We have the resources from the taxation we put in and the subsidy is also being considered in September, until there is a de-escalation of prices. Of course, we are waiting to see the final statements of the providers.”

“A fall in prices is expected”

The minister said that in the fall a de-escalation of prices is expected due to the normal decrease in demand and also due to the entry of new renewable sources.

The new tariffs for September will be announced by the providers by Sunday at the latest.
