Chennai Faces Scheduled Power Outages for Maintenance Work

Chennai residents are set to experience power outages as the Electricity Board plans to carry out maintenance work in the city. The board has announced that power supply will be temporarily halted in several areas from 9 am to 2 pm.

Periodical power cuts for maintenance purposes are a common occurrence in the substations operated by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board department. As per the announcement, major parts of Chennai will experience power cuts during the specified time.

The areas affected by the power outage include Foreshore Estate, Santhome Highway, Demandi Street, Toominguppam, and their surrounding areas under the Mylapore substation. Additionally, the Egmore substation will witness power cuts in Cooks Road, Tank Bund Road 1 and 2, Main Street, Krishnadas Road, Ottery, Eden Gardens, K.H. Road, and various other streets and localities. The Tambaram substation, covering a significant portion of the city, will experience power cuts in numerous areas like Perumbakkam, Velachery Main Road, Pallavan Nagar, and Thiruvalluvar Nagar, among others.

The KK Nagar substation will also be temporarily disconnected, which includes areas such as PT Rajan Road, Virugambakkam, Alvarthiru Nagar, and Kodambakkam. The Vyasarabadi substation, responsible for power supply to Madhavaram Annapurna Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Ayyappa Nagar Main Road, and several other localities, will also be affected by the maintenance work.

Password substation, covering areas like Velachery Vijaya Nagar, Golden Avenue, Priya Flat, and Kottivakkam University Nagar, will face power cuts as well. Residents of Ponneri, Panchetti Natham, Achinchivakkam, and Peravallur will also experience temporary power interruptions. Lastly, the IT Corridor, encompassing Title Park, VSI Estate, Perungudi, Cholinganallur, and other areas, will be affected by the power cuts.

The Electricity Board has assured residents that power supply will be restored once the maintenance work is successfully completed by 2.00 pm. It is recommended that residents make necessary arrangements during the scheduled power outage to minimize inconvenience during this period.
