The spokesman for the General Electricity Company, Wiam Al-Tayeb, stated that maintenance and development operations of the various components of the network are continuing in preparation for the summer peak through ongoing maintenance and major overhauls that have not stopped at all stations nationwide.

Al-Tayeb added, in a statement to Libya Al-Ahrar TV, that the fourth gas unit in the Misrata dual station is now subject to periodic inspection and programmed maintenance work by the Siemens team and the station’s technicians and engineers to maintain its level of performance.

Al-Tayeb pointed out that the fifth unit at the Ruwais station in the Western Mountain is also undergoing major Umrah work, and that the teams are now working on installing the unit’s turbine shaft, which arrived during the past 24 hours via the Tripoli seaport from the German company Siemens.

Al-Tayeb stated that the maintenance teams of the American company (GE) and the engineers and technicians of the Al-Zawiya Al-Dawla power station began carrying out the major umrah work on the second gas unit to increase its production capacity ahead of the summer peak.

Al-Tayeb affirmed the company’s determination to continue the process of reform, development and construction of the country’s electrical network in a way that keeps pace with the increasing demand for energy and ensures that we do not return to the dark era that the Libyans experienced during the past years, according to him.
