Electricity counts the completed projects of the first phase of the campaign to relieve congestion in Baghdad

The Ministry of Electricity announced, today, Sunday, the results of the projects completed in the first phase of the campaign to relieve bottlenecks in Baghdad.

The media office of the Minister of Electricity stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the installation of 226 new stations and transformers was completed, and 227 thousand meters of various wires and more than 1,000 electricity poles were extended.”

He added that “the areas included in the first phase are (Al-Zafaraniya, Al-Madain, Al-Nahrawan, Al-Karkh, Ur neighborhood, Al-Ubaidi, Al-Amin, Al-Bunuk, and Al-Baladiyat)”, noting that “the remaining areas will be included in the coming phases.”

He added that “the works of the first phase of the campaign to relieve congestion in areas of the capital, Baghdad, included the following:

– Establishing 3 new power stations with a capacity of 11/33 kilovolts.

– Installation of 223 modern transformers with a capacity of 11 kilovolts.

– Establishing a network of 1770 electric poles

– Laying more than 227 thousand meters of cables and wires, distributed between:

– 108 thousand meters of aluminum wires.

– 93 thousand meters of high-voltage cables.

– 26 thousand meters of low-voltage cables.

He pointed out that “this project is expected to contribute to enhancing the reliability of electricity and ensuring stable supply hours for citizens.”
