by time news

Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s electricity demand is on an average of 15,000 megawatts per day. Electricity is not enough to meet it.

Thus electricity is procured from central government power companies and private companies.

At present the Central Power Department is buying power from many companies and selling it to the State Power Boards. Electricity Board has requested to supply that electricity to Tamil Nadu.

A power board official said: Central Power Department through ‘Power Finance’ company has requested ‘tender’ to purchase 4500 megawatts of electricity from weak power generation companies at low price.

The electricity is to be sold to the state electricity boards. Therefore, the central power department has been urged to provide a certain amount of electricity to be sold by power finance to Tamil Nadu, he said.
