Electricity sets five proposals to overcome obstacles in preparation for the upcoming Arbaeen visit

Today, Monday, the Ministry of Electricity identified five proposals to overcome obstacles in preparation for the Arbaeen pilgrimage next year.

A statement by the ministry received by the (INA) said: “Within the framework of the intensive efforts to improve electricity services, the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadhil, held an expanded meeting to evaluate the performance of the electricity network during the Arbaeen visit, and discussed the implementation of new projects in preparation for the Arbaeen visit next year.”
The statement added, “The meeting comes in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and was attended by representatives of his office, the Ministries of Planning and Finance, in addition to the directors of energy transmission and distribution in the Middle Euphrates region.”
He pointed out that, “during the meeting, a comprehensive assessment was conducted of the level of energy production in Karbala during the peak of the Arbaeen visit, the hours of preparation, and the problems that occurred. The proposed plans and projects were reviewed to overcome the expected obstacles during the visit, including: –
1- Determining the lands required to establish new transmission and distribution stations.
2- Completing the 2025 emergency plan to rehabilitate the transportation and distribution sectors in the Middle Euphrates.
3- Providing an alternative electrical network for the visitors’ road to relieve pressure on the current feeders.
4- Proposing to include the million-person visit projects within the investment budget as an independent project.
5- Forming specialized work teams that include representatives of the relevant ministries to expedite and facilitate procedures.
According to the statement, the Minister stressed “the importance of continuous coordination between all concerned parties, to ensure the success of the plans put in place and to provide the best services to visitors during this important religious occasion,” while stressing the need to work in the spirit of one team to overcome the expected challenges and achieve the desired goals to improve the reality of electricity in Iraq.
