Electronic cigarettes cause tremendous damage – and really not only to smokers

The fires are just one of the consequences of electronic cigarettes. These cigarettes flood the environment with plastic waste, which stands out in parks, schools, universities and city centers. Laura Young (26), an environmental activist in Scotland, calls on politicians, businesses and associations to act to ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes. The British government is indeed considering legislation that would make sure that the manufacturers of the vapes are the ones who will finance the collection and recycling of used products.

E-cigarettes heat liquids to produce a vapor that can be inhaled, and contain a dose of nicotine that does not have some of the health hazards found in tobacco. Although single-use e-cigarettes can be recycled, they require special handling and are often thrown in the trash or down the drain, with the lithium still in them.
