Eleni Prokopiou granted a rare interview on the “Eleni” show. The well-known actress and dancer, who will turn 85 in July, talked about her return to the theater, her granddaughters and her career.
“I returned to the theater after many years. I lend my voice to the show ‘My Girl’. I was convinced by my granddaughter to participate in the show that she is also performing. My two granddaughters are my adoration, I am a good grandmother.
I had slit eyes and they called me “Chinese”. I wasn’t watching if I was impressive, I was watching ‘Helen’. I see myself in the movies and ask my granddaughter “is that me?”. I wasn’t interested in being the protagonist, I always backed down, I didn’t say ‘I’m me and no one else’,” Eleni Prokopiou initially said.
And he continued: “Dance was my life, I danced since I was a baby and I was the first. My favorite movie was ‘Date in the Air’. Rena Vlachopoulou was in her own world, she had her sense of humor, she made jokes. We hung out with Rena because my husband was a humorist and they liked him a lot. I was approached by men but from my mom and dad I had a hold. I loved in my life, I had two marriages. My second marriage was with Antonis Syrigos and it lasted 50 years. He gave me the most important thing, my daughter.”
Regarding her relationship with time, Eleni Prokopiou emphasized: “I am not reconciled to anything, I am working on it. I think why not be the way I was. I don’t dream anymore, I want to have my girls and admire them.”
