Following reports that opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu convened a late-night consultation in the Knesset in the presence of Likud faction chairman Yariv Levin and MKs Amir Ohana and Shlomo Karai, the coalition is attacking the move.

MK Eli Avidar tweeted on his Twitter account: “While Israel mourns 11 murders by cursed terrorists, Bibi-Ish-Krayot convenes a cynical night meeting to take advantage of the crisis.”

“Congratulations to the Likud Knesset members who refused to attend the meeting he convened. It is Netanyahu’s time to remain silent and let the government take care of the scorched earth he left behind.”

Netanyahu did an exercise to challenge the coalition?

According to reports coming out of the Likud environment, in the shadow of the terrorist attacks and the difficult security situation, there are MKs from the coalition who sent a message to the Likud that they are interested in defecting and overthrowing the government.

However, any sane person knows that when there is a significant political development that has the potential to overthrow the government, such as finding defectors, they do not convene for an urgent meeting in the Knesset late at night, where there is a constant record of Knesset members present, but do so quietly to make the move mature. It seems that Netanyahu is trying to make a move that will put the coalition in a spin.

Against the background of these things, Srugim learned that Netanyahu’s meeting with Likud members during the night was apparently nothing more than coordination and planning of moves in the background of the security situation. But it should be noted that the right-wing parties in the coalition are beginning to understand that the current situation can not continue which undermines the stability of the coalition.
