Elisabeth Borne’s popularity on the rise, ahead of Macron

The increasingly popular Prime Minister. His rating is up by 3 points with 41% and exceeds that of Emmanuel Macron and his 37%, in the August monthly barometer of Ifop published by the Journal du Dimanche.

The Prime Minister recorded a three-point increase among people declaring themselves “rather satisfied” compared to the previous delivery of this barometer, in July. In particular, it gains 12 points among 18-24 year olds, which represents 49% satisfaction. If Ms. Borne loses 12 points among those polled saying they are close to the Socialist Party (32%), she wins on the other hand 5 among those close to the Republicans, with 49% satisfied.

A drop of one point for the president

Emmanuel Macron’s popularity rating is almost stable compared to July, with a drop of 1 point (37%) in the “total satisfied” and an increase of 1 point (63%) in the “total dissatisfied”. The Head of State has lost 4 satisfaction points since May, after his re-election.

“For the first time since the start of the health crisis, the head of state is in the minority in all categories of the population”, writes the JDD. “It’s unheard of for a re-elected president”, notes in the columns of the newspaper the director general of the opinion department of Ifop, Frédéric Dabi.

The survey was conducted among a sample of 986 people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over, according to the quota method, with a margin of error of between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
