A first-class farmer’s meeting is organized on Saturdays and Sundays in Razlog. The biggest event in the sector will become a real celebration for Bulgarian farmers and breeders who raise their animals in the regions of the three mountains emblematic of our country, the Rila, Pirin and Rhodopes, promise the organizers from the “Three Mountains 2024” association.
The exhibition will show the achievements in the field of animal husbandry and will be held on the open green areas in the “Bayova Borika” area, near Razlog.
The highlight of the large-scale meeting is the presentation of the rich biological diversity of farm animal breeds bred in our country.
Over 100 farmers will show their most elite animals. Visitors will be able to see over 70 horses across over 10 breeds, over 30 cows and calves and over 50 sheep and goats – both local and commercial. The alleys and mobile pens will present exotic breeds of animals imported by Bulgarian farmers with the intention of developing and distributing them in our country.
The exhibition is being organized for the first time and aims to unite livestock breeders between the three mountains and to show that in the forests of Pirin, Rila Rhodopes both autochthonous breeds and strong and healthy farm animals are kept and raised. The event starts on Sunday at 10:00 a.m., with a festive program with the special participation of the chaushi typical of the area and will alternate with attractions for the public, fun and educational events for all ages – from the youngest visitors with a children’s corner built to the stalls for measuring animals in situ. A raffle will delight one lucky person with a young foal.
Within the framework of the event, 5 tons of fodder will be distributed to all exhibitors and special prizes for the best specimens, selected by a special vote of the spectators.
A day earlier, on Saturday, a weightlifting tournament will be held with Bulgaria’s strongest horses of the Heavyweight breed. In addition to the familiar single teams, for the first time in Razlog, the hosts from the association “Three Mountains” will also present a double team category. The loads will be logs, and a raffle has been prepared for the audience – a car.
The competition begins with the measurement of the horses, and the first start is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. according to the familiar regulation for this kind of amateur competition: 30 meters length of the track and 3:00 minutes of control time, two guides on the track and leading only leads behind the horses with respect for animal welfare.
On both days, veterinary presence is ensured by local and veterinary doctors from the National Horse Breeding Association.
